Do you remember the feeling when, in 2009, in Berlin, Usain Bolt made history in the 100-meter race by losing 0.14 seconds from his world record to 9.58 seconds? This is more or less what the latest model of the Tesla Model S P100D is doing now.
2017 Tesla Model s is the fastest production car in the world. Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently tweeted that the vehicle went from 0 km / h to 97 km / h in 2.5 seconds, but by downloading the Ludicrous + software update, luxury sedans can reach 97 km / h in 2, 4 seconds.
However, in an independent test that shocked the automotive world, American Motor Trend magazine reached speeds in just 2.28 seconds, making the Model S the fastest vehicle ever produced.
What’s New From The 2017 Tesla Model S?
The latest version of the 2017 Tesla Model s is faster than Ferrari than the Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Aventador or Porsche 911 Turbo S. But we must be careful. Tesla we mean is the latest sedan model, Model S P100D, with Ludicrous + software, a combination that is not yet available in many markets.
The 2017 Tesla Model s which features Ludicrous (but not Ludicrous +, which adds 33 horsepower) – can reach 97km / h in just 2.7 seconds, already at a very high-speed thanks to Elon Musk. This time it is equivalent to the fastest engine in Japan, the Nissan GT-R.
The P100D is the latest and most advanced evolution of the Model S sedan to date. The secret of the high performance of this car can be attributed to two features: its 100kWh battery pack, which is under the car’s chassis, and a 4WD (four-wheel drive) transmission system with two electric motors. In comparison, small electric car battery packs, such as the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, 16kWh, are six times smaller than the P100D.
Because the Model S has four doors, it is often compared to other large luxury sedans such as the BMW 5-Series or Audi A6. However, this car is more similar to the Nissan GT-R. It has balance, accuracy, and rhythm. Obviously, it’s heavy and doesn’t have the rigidity of the Nissan GT-R chassis. The Model S weighs around 500 kg more than the GT-R and offers almost the same power, but the brake system is much smaller.
The Model S is not just a fast and beautiful car. It has leather seats, aluminum doors, large touch screens, and a breakthrough in the automotive industry: a mode of defense against biological weapons. With a system similar to that used by the US President in his Beast armored limousine, the Model S has a filtering system that prevents allergens, bacteria, and biological agents from entering the cabin.
In the original model, the AutoPilot system was the most advanced technology for autonomous driving in production cars. Not only is it limited to adaptive cruise control that is common, as in many other cars that accelerate and brake according to traffic conditions, but also changes lanes without ignoring blind spots and uses emergency brakes when the driver is not.
Only now, on the latest P100D, Tesla has improved the camera, which means that the Model S is not only the fastest vehicle on the planet but a car that is likely to redefine autonomous driving in the years to come.
In Japan, China and Korea, both the 2017 Tesla Model S and Model X SUVs are selling well. But because of the proportion of sedans, increased visibility, performance and comfort, Model S is a market leader in most Asian countries.
